Toddlers

Yellow Tops Toddler Room for 2-3 year olds

Caring for toddlers is one of the greatest parenting challenges, one minute they're assertive the next clinging and whining... it takes patience and perseverance to help your little one make the transition from a dependent baby to an independent child, but we will be with you all the way!

From the age of around 24 months, the children's day becomes a little more structured, with a balance between child-initiated play and adult-led learning. Every activity is a learning opportunity – sorting shapes and sizes introduces early mathematics, enjoying rhymes, singing and music encourages language development, painting, mark making and messy play stimulate creativity.

The spacious well equipped room provides a craft area where children can paint, collage, use scissors and pencils to develop their fine manipulative skills. There is also a quiet area for reading, a role play corner to develop creative play. The children have free access to a wide variety of toys, books and educational play on computers.

Mealtimes are a particularly good source of learning. All the children are encouraged to sit down together, placing an early emphasis on social graces and table manners. We help the children to develop healthy eating habits by providing delicious fresh meals with a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables.

We work closely with you to help with toilet training and begin to teach the children to take responsibility for their own personal hygiene by emphasising the importance of hand washing.
