Blue Tops Pre-School Room for 3-5 year olds
For eligible children aged 3-4 years Spinning Top provides FREE extended 3 hour pre-school sessions (as opposed to 2½ hours offered by many other school and nursery settings).
The emphasis in our pre-school is on teaching the fundamental skills that children will need to succeed at school, including reading, writing and numeracy. The pre-school team work to extend each child's learning and prepare them for a successful transition into school.
The pre-school room is divided into well-defined "learning areas", each equipped with resources that focus on a particular area of development. These include mark making, mathematics, reading, information technology, role play, construction and others.
Each child has a "Development File" in which we record their progress in each area of learning. These help us to identify individual development needs and plan activities designed to address these. You are always very welcome to see your child's records at any time or discuss them with the key person assigned to your child. As part of our partnership arrangements with local schools these files are passed onto your child's new school during the transition process between the nursery and the school.
Our aim is to help the children in our care to approach a major change in their lives - starting school - with the confidence, skills and enthusiasm for learning that will give them a valuable and enduring head start.
